question

Hey, I’m gay.

Do you think that’s a rhyme or a poem?

A non-traditional one line haiku poem that rhymes.

As well as a bold statement that makes me wonder….

I knew it somehow felt like a haiku! But, it felt already complete at just three syllables. Go figure.

And for the record, I don’t consider myself gay. But I may be blog-curious.

I think I’ve been listening to that Katy Perry song too much.

If “For sale: baby shoes. Never worn.” counts as a short story, then “Hey, I’m gay.” counts as a poem.

It’s all about the layers, baby.

    Either:

    a) A rhyme.

    b) A “helpful” announcement for that one friend/coworker/relative who talks incessantly about their[opposite sex] girlfriend or boyfriend, the one that you’re pretty sure is a figment of their imagination.

Think it’d be the great first line kicking off a heck of a limerick…

i think it highly depends on the punctuation at the end.

    hey, i’m gay?

    hey, i’m gay!

    hey, i’m gay.

now you are gonna have ’em talking… “you know that lady that wrote those two books is a *whisper* lesbian. now wonder she didn’t know that naptime wasn’t the new happy hour! i told you those people don’t need children…”

It’s both! A poem is merely a composition in verse… and yours happens to rhyme. Yeah… Now who’s gay?

Seriously, that Katy Perry song makes me want to go kiss a girl. All that talk of soft skin and cherry chapstick…have I said too much?

    And, it’s a rhyming poem.

I’m going with “rhyme”. Of course, I live with a kid who just told me that “comb” rhymes with “hair” so there is the slightest possibility I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.
